Hertfordshire roadworks: Road closures and resurfacing works will affect drivers this week

We know there’s nothing worse than being stuck in traffic when you have plans. To help you avoid long car trips, we’ve rounded up roadwork across the county this week (Monday, March 20 through Sunday, March 26).

Hertfordshire County Council and National Highways will keep residents informed if anything changes. However, HertsLive recommends that you check current day traffic and travel information to avoid getting stuck on long detours.

  • A119 Northern Highway, Hertford – MUA Electricity Ltd power grid works towards a new development which will take place from 20th March to 2nd April.

  • A119 Ware Road, Hertford (Fairfax Road junction) – UK Power Networks will replace an electrical junction box on the 25th and 26th of March.

  • A404 Rickmansworth Road, Chorleywood – Resurfacing works to be carried out between March 20 and 25.

  • A404 Rickmansworth Road, Chorleywood (under junction 18 of the M25) – Maintenance work on the National Highway bridge from now until April 11.

  • A41 westbound between junction 20 of the M25 and Two Waters Way junction, Hemel Hempstead – Resurfacing work from now until March 29 (8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.).

  • A414 Hertford Road (eastbound), Hatfield – The work to replace the Cadent Gas network will be carried out from now until April 28.

  • Aycliffe Street, Borehamwood – Resurfacing and maintenance work from now until March 24.

  • B1004 Rye Street, Bishop’s Stortford – Thames Water maintenance work from now until April 12.

  • B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden – Cadent Gas main replacement work will take place between now and May 26.

  • Berry Lane, Chorleywood – Cadent Gas emergency works until March 21.

  • Buncefield Lane (northern section) Quietway, Hemel Hempstead – Phase 1 – Public lighting works from now until May 8.

  • Chalfont Lane, Maple Cross – The works of the High Speed ​​project (HS2) are carried out from now until 2026.

  • Dancers Hill Road / Barnet Road (junction of St Albans Road), Potters Bar – UKPN high voltage cable works from now until March 26 (second phase).

  • Drake’s Drive, St Albans – Drainage works to be carried out from now until April 28.

  • Gipsy Lane, Bishop’s Stortford – Thames Water installation works will take place between now and April 19.

  • Heath Row, Bishops Stortford (between Lea Close and Parsonage Lane junctions) – UK Power Networks electrical connection work will take place between now and 23 April.

  • Lavinia Avenue, Watford – Pavement micro-pavement works until March 21.

  • Lieutenant Ellis Way (westbound), Waltham Cross – New construction connection works until March 21.

  • Little Oxhey Lane, Carpenders Park / South Oxhey – Network Rail safety works will be carried out from now until July 21st.

  • Nazing New Road, Broxbourne – The Network Rail bridge replacement works will be carried out from now until April 30 (24/7).

  • Newmarket Road, Royston – Pavement micropaving works until March 23.

  • Near the park, Markyate – Pavement micro-pavement works until March 21.

  • Peakes Way near Allard Way, Cheshunt – Connection works to the GTC from March 20 to 31.

  • Royston Road, Baldock – Surface preparation work from March 23 to 29.

  • Sandridge Road, St Albans – Pavement micropaving works from now until March 27.

  • St Albans Road, Barnet – Surface preparation work from now until March 22.

  • St Andrew Street, Hertford (between numbers 46 and 48) – Affinity Water maintenance work to be carried out from March 21 to 24.

  • Sweet Dew Lane, Allens Green – Resurfacing works from March 20 to 31.

  • Theobald Street, Borehamwood – Tree maintenance work from now until March 23.

  • Vicarage Road, Watford – Pavement reconstruction work from now until March 23 (10:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.).

  • Windsor Road, Watford – Traffic calming work on March 21 and 22.

  • Woodmere Avenue, Watford – The Cadent Gas installation works will be carried out from March 20 to 31.
