Man, 44, killed by ‘single stab wound to the heart’

A murder investigation has been launched after a man died of a single stab wound to the heart.

Stefan Stelian Moraru, a Romanian national, was attacked on Chandos Avenue in Barnet, London.

Detectives say a “disturbance or altercation” had occurred in the area prior to the alleged assault.

Mr. Moraru was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6 am on Monday, March 20.

Their relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

An autopsy carried out on Tuesday, March 21, established a single stab wound to the heart as the cause of death.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, of the Metropolitan Police, said: “I would like to appeal to witnesses who were in the area of ​​Chandos Avenue and Whetstone High Street, N20 on Sunday March 19 at approximately 10.30pm. “.

“Our investigations suggest that there was a disturbance or altercation on Chandos Avenue at or around this time and we are looking for witnesses to this.

“I’m particularly interested in anyone who had a dashcam when traveling on any of these roads at the time.”

Special Crime homicide detectives are leading the investigation. At this stage, there have been no arrests.
