NCTO Elects Norman Chapman, President and CEO of Inman Mills, as President; Charles Heilig, President of Parkdale Mills, as Vice President

WASHINGTON, DC—April 3, 2023—The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO), which represents the full spectrum of US textiles, from fiber to finished sewn products, last week held its official elections for the fiscal year 2023.

NCTO elected Norman Chapman, president and CEO of Inman Mills, as president, and Charles Heilig, president of Parkdale Mills, as vice president.

In addition to the appointment of a new president and vice president, NCTO elected presidents for each of its five councils. NCTO is made up of five councils to ensure broad industry supply chain representation. Each council is assigned a number of members who are elected to the association’s Board of Directors, in addition to the Executive Committee.

“I am pleased to announce our new NCTO Fiscal Year 2023 officers, council chairs, and members of the board and executive committee,” said Kim Glas, NCTO President and CEO. “I want to thank our new President, Norman Chapman, and Vice President, Charles Heilig, for their vital contributions to the Board and to the NCTO. Your input is invaluable, and we will work closely to defend and advance the interests of the US apparel industry.”

Those elected as NCTO President and Vice President for 2023 are:

  • Chairman: Norman Chapman, President and CEO of Inman Mills: Mr. Chapman is Chairman and CEO of Inman Mills, headquartered in Inman, South Carolina. Inman Mills is a leading fabric spinning and weaving company founded in 1901.
  • Vice President: Charles Heilig, President of Parkdale Mills.

The following were elected to the NCTO Board of Directors during the various Council meetings:

  • Fiber Tip: David Adkins of Lenzing; John Freeman of Nan Ya Plastics; and Chuck Hall of Barnet
  • Yarn tip: Jim Booterbaugh of National Spinning; Gildan’s Peter Iliopoulos; Unifi’s Eddie Ingle; Eric Noe of Buhler Quality Yarns; Richard Ridewood of the Coats Group; and Marvin Smith of Shuford Yarns
  • Home Furnishings and Fabrics Council: Chris Heard of Sage Automotive; James McKinnon of Cotswold Industries; Blake Millinor of Valdese Weavers; Leib Oehmig of Glen Raven; David Smith of Milliken & Company; and Joey Underwood of Elevate Textiles
  • Council on Finished Textiles and Garments – Marisa Fumei-South of Two-One-Two New York
  • Industry Support Council – Fi-Tech’s Todd Bassett; Cyril Guerin from Picanol; and Jim Reed of YKK Corp.

Elected by their respective Councils to serve on the Executive Committee were:

Barnet’s Chuck Hall; Blake Millinor of Valdese Weavers; Chris Heard of Sage Automotive; Unifi’s Eddie Ingle; Marvin Smith of Shuford Yarns; Marisa Fumei-South of Two-One-Two New York; and Cyril Guerin from Picanol.

NCTO President Norman Chapman selected four additional executives to serve on the Executive Committee: Anderson Warlick of Parkdale Mills, Gabrielle Ferrara of Ferrara Manufacturing; Gildan’s John Maness; and Walter Spiegel of Standard Textile.

Elected to preside over the Councils:

  • Thread Tip: Eddie Ingle of Unifi
  • Home Furnishings and Fabrics Tip: Blake Millinor of Valdese Weavers
