Crook, who is also known for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, The Detectorists and Worzel Gummidge, had made public appeals to find his wife’s older sister. He said her disappearance was “agonizing” for the family.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, the actor said his family were “clinging to a straw” but remained “resolute and determined” to find Ms Aldridge. He said he had seen “nothing but determination and stoicism” from the family during the search.
