He dominated his area very well, but his defense did so well against him that he hardly had anything else to do.
Mahlon Romeo 8
He bombarded that right side at will and did well to keep the Birmingham players quiet. Another stellar display.

Solid as you like. He seems comfortable in that role of right-centre midfielder. He had a clear shot in the first half. He crushed on that impressive free kick.
cedric kipre 8
Very good at both ends of the field. Crosses that spread and stop at one end and set-piece-winning headers at the other.
Mark McGuinness 9 (star man)
He faced the formidable Lukas Jutkiewicz and gave it his best. Not stepping foot out of line since rejoining, really. He took a load off the manager’s mind with another giant screen.
Callum O’Dowda 8
Like Romeo, he joined City’s attack and did his job well in defence. Another who looks comfortable in this role as a winger. He won the free kick from Ng’s goal.
Andy Rinomhota 9
The best of midfielders by some margin. He rushed and harassed Blues defenders and at times found himself wide to the right, lashing crosses. He fell to the ground.

I can’t say that it did much, or that it impacted the game too much. But it was a game plan that largely bypassed the midfield. Nor can I say that I have done much wrong.

Much like Sawyers, actually, though his inconsistent delivery of set pieces proved frustrating at times, especially with much bigger targets to hit. However, that got better later.
Sorry Kaba 8
He won a few duels and had a scissor shot that went wide of the post in the first half. He attempted a bicycle kick in the second half with similar results. He smashed a volley narrowly over the bar. He seemed more dangerous as the game went on.
Kion Etete 8
Another impressive performance from the striker. He did better than his attacking partner in holding the ball and linking play. It’s good to see it.
substitutes:
Callum Robinson (Etete 73) 8 – Lobbed a smart ball for Wickham with his first touch. He then faced several players before scoring an own goal.
Connor Wickham (Kaba 73) 7 – He spun a defender around with his first touch before firing a low shot past John Ruddy. He showed composure, which is encouraging. Solid debut start.
Jaden Philogene (Romeo 73) 7 – He showed his lightness on his feet on a couple of occasions, putting in decent crosses and even with a shot on goal that was blocked.
Joe Ralls (Rinomhota 86) NA: Can’t rate him, but he did make an excellent block late on.
