IOM-Birmingham: Loganair celebrates 30,000th passenger

In the Isle of Man-Birmingham rotation with Loganair this week, the airline celebrated handling its 30,000th passenger on the route with partner Emirates.

The 30,000th passenger is understood to have been Sidney Cunningham, who was gifted a free return flight by the airline.

The reason for the participation of the Emirates is due to the fact that Cunningham connects from Birmingham to Dubai through the interline agreements between the two parties.

Commenting on this milestone was Sidney Cunningham himself, who said:

“I always enjoy flying with Loganair and Emirates, and this has been quite a surprise.”

“I am a frequent traveler and have visited everywhere from Bangkok to Glasgow, and Loganair’s partnership with Emirates is vital in connecting communities like the Isle of Man with the rest of the world.”

Also commented Loganair’s commercial director, Luke Lovegrove:

“We are proud to connect communities both in the UK and internationally with a wide range of regional routes and partnerships with airlines, such as Emirates.”

“We hope Sidney enjoys her trip to Dubai and congratulate her on being our 30,000thhe passenger flying from the Isle of Man to Birmingham.

Also commented Richard Jewishbury, Division Vice President of UK Operations at Emirates:

“Our regional hubs across the UK offer passengers a gateway to the world. Birmingham is a key hub for Emirates, providing better connectivity to leisure travelers, businesses and communities in the region.”

“In July, we will also celebrate the return of Emirates’ iconic A380 aircraft, offering customers even more travel options this summer.”

“We look forward to welcoming Mr. Cunningham on his next flight with us and continuing to connect passengers to more than 140 destinations through our home and hub of Dubai.”

Emirates’ connection to Loganair from Birmingham will prevail into the 2023 summer season.

This is because, starting July 1, the airline will update the rotation from Dubai with an Airbus A380.

Such an upgrade will allow additional capacity to be reserved through Loganair’s interline agreement.

The Isle of Man-Birmingham route is quite a competitive market, but this interline arrangement offers a USP to locals on the island and beyond for potentially better connections than London Heathrow, Manchester etc.

The competitiveness of this route will be one to take into account to move forward.

It is clear that the Isle of Man-Birmingham route is turning out to be quite lucrative for Loganair.

Improved interline connections with one of the major players in the airline industry will encourage further uptake on the Loganair network in the future.

All eyes will be on the UK regional airline to see how it will perform through the 2023 summer season and whether a significant increase in passenger numbers will be seen through this deal.

For now, all eyes are on both the UK regional carrier and Emirates ahead of the team update from Birmingham on July 1.
