Drag superstar Alyssa Edwards travels from Texas to Birmingham this spring to share her life story with a generous dose of camp glamour.

After appearances on the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race and netflix series Dancing QueenAlyssa Edwards, whose real name is Justin Dwayne Lee Johnson, has announced that her critically acclaimed diva show is finally opening in the UK.

‘Becoming Alyssa, The Life Story Of A Traveling Queen’ will cross the Atlantic this May and make its UK premiere at Birmingham Town Hall.

The show is described as an “unmissable dance epic about her life growing up, her extraordinary career in drag, and her incredible journey to find love.”

From Mesquite Texas to the world stage, Alyssa’s life is a show as the American entertainer, choreographer and television personality who rose to international fame on season 5 of RuPaul’s Drag Racebefore appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars 2, america’s got talent and his notable Netflix docuseries, Dancing Queen.

Catapulted to fame in 2012 for her candid testimonials, outrageous clucks of the tongue and quirky personality, Alyssa’s magnetism saw her lead a sold-out and critically acclaimed season at the Vaudeville Theater in London’s historic West End in 2021.

Alyssa also embarked on a 31 cross-US tour from Los Angeles to New York City, with 31 cities in between. titled the Life, Love and Eyelashes Tourthe one-diva show was “a non-stop adrenaline spectacle: parting the velvet curtain to reveal Alyssa’s innermost secrets.”

With a global fanbase that includes 1.9 million Instagram followers, Alyssa’s tour is sure to draw a huge crowd.

Hailed as the “Disgusting Supreme Queen” by The times, Alyssa Edwards’ latest show will play in the West Midlands at Birmingham Town Hall on May 2, before heading to Cardiff, London, Manchester and Ediburgh. Tickets are available here.
