Clean-sheet specialists Bolton recorded another shutout at home but devastatingly converted defense into attack in a 5-0 League One win over MK Dons.

Ian Evatt’s side moved up one place to third to sit just six points away from an automatic promotion place after a fifth successive win following Saturday’s 5-0 win over Peterborough, their biggest home league success this term.

Manchester City teenager on loan Luke Mbete, on his home debut, headed in his first senior goal, one of five Wanderers defenders to score.

Captain Ricardo Santos, whose brace against Posh was his first goal in 118 Bolton appearances, made it three for two after seven minutes from a Declan John corner.

The fragility of the visitors from set pieces was exposed by Mbete’s goal from another John delivery before Gethin Jones made it 3-0 after 28 minutes.

Wanderers has already gone nine games and more than 16 hours in all competitions in Unibol without conceding a goal.

Poor in defence, MK Dons were better in attack but James Trafford kept Wigan’s record intact by denying Jonathan Leko.

Center half Eoin Toal and substitute Randell Williams put together a great night for the Wanderers defensive line with second half goals.
