Paddy McGuinness will look collapsed as he makes his way to The Great British Bake Off tent. Four more famous faces will be seen on Sunday night (9 April) putting their baking skills to the test in the Channel 4 charity spin-off show.

But this weekend, there will be another celebrity quartet including Bolton-born Paddy, Loose Women star Coleen Nolan, Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas and Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor. And at a first look at the episode, it looks like things are going pretty bad for Paddy.

The comedian and TV presenter cursed during a meltdown as he watched his cake collapse in the oven, which meant he had to start all over again. And his desperation wasn’t helped by his fellow baker Coleen, who was the one who discovered something was wrong when she asked him, “What the hell is that?”

“That’s good, isn’t it?” replied Paddy, 49, “That’s the boost you want. ‘What the hell is that?’ he added before realizing that his firing failed. When you take your gingerbread out of the oven, it completely falls apart and some of it even falls on the floor.

The Top Gear host appears to swear, but it’s unclear what word he’s using when it sounds. “The shaft has collapsed,” he said, explaining what happened behind his back before cheekily quipping, “The story of my life.” He then added: “No, no, no, no, that’s not right. I don’t know what to do.”

But the father of three didn’t give up and will be seen picking up some of his baking off the floor and putting it back on his work surface. As his fellow celebrities look on in horror at what they just witnessed, Paddy is heard saying, “Now listen, they’ll never know. Reboot.” Outlining his new plan, he adds, “So I’m going to make another batch. Let’s go again. A gingerbread man won’t stop us.”
