UpsideDown Bar officially opens in the center of Bolton

The UpsideDown Bar is located in the basement of the St Andrews Court Shopping Arcade, once the home of the Bergeracs.

And it was where the Oasis-themed bar Definitely Maybe started, which has now moved to Nelson Square.

Definitely maybe relaunched in December 2022 after moving to a bigger site.

Owner Sinclair Little opened the UpsideDown Bar with partner Rebecca Smith after running Definitely Maybe.

The bar features elegant décor, booths and stools.

He said: “The opportunity arose when the Definitely Maybe Bar moved, and the owners wanted someone to take it over and put their effort and love into it.

“It could be a horrible hole in the ground that would just stay the other way, and the previous owners wanted it to go to someone who cares about the place.

“It’s a great feeling to see all the work my partner Rebecca and I have put into this and see it come to life.”

Sinclair began his career as a nightclub glass collector, then moved to the bar, before becoming a supervisor and then manager at the well-known Bolton club.

Sinclair has around six years under his belt and hopes this is the start of something positive for Bolton town centre.

He added: “We want this to be a safe space for people to have a good night and feel comfortable.

“We want it to be a place where people who are celebrating and having fun are doing the same as everyone else in the bar.

The Bolton News:

“Our staff will take care of people because we don’t want people to feel worried about going out at night.”

It can be an easy place to miss, but it is definitely a hidden gem with a lot of variety to offer in the center of the city.

Once downstairs, the bar is divided into a chill area for those who want to chat with their friends and another area with a stage for those who want to dance and enjoy live shows.

Sinclair added: “We want to be something different and we’ll run different tracks and play it by ear and see what the community enjoys.

“There will be a lot of testing the waters for now to see what works.

“We believe in what we’ve done, we’ve worked very hard on the bar and we hope people like it as much as we do.”

The bar is open from Friday to Saturday from 8:00 pm to 4:30 am, although it may start to open more frequently depending on feedback.
