Celebrity Hunted fans were prepared to see the start of the latest series, only to have a technical glitch bring them to a halt. The thriller reality show, which sees a group of celebrity escapees escape prison and try to live under the radar for 14 days, returned to Channel 4 for a fifth series tonight (March 28).

Among the celebrities trying to evade the hunters in the new series are Nic and Eva Speakman, James Acaster and Ed Gamble, Saffron Barker and Bobby Seagull, and Katya Jones and Aimee Fuller. But not everyone managed to get a slice of the nail-biting action, as some fans didn’t get to see the gripping first installment.

Several Celebrity Hunted fans expressed their frustration on social media when they were unable to access All4. “Can someone tell me why #channel4 is offline on #all4 please?” wrote a fan on Twitter.

“I just wanted to watch Celebrity Hunted.”

“Same!” another tweeted. “I just spent 30 minutes trying to get it to work. It doesn’t work through firestick or ps4.”

“Same thing: I’ve been waiting for @Hunted_HQ for a long time, and now Channel 4 is offline on All4,” said a third.

The first episode of the fifth season built a suspense, with fans who were able to access the show on the edge of their seats as the 10 celebs headed straight for freedom. Viewers were especially drawn to comedy duo Acaster and Gamble, who decided to sit down for a fancy meal before asking a waitress to drop them off in Birmingham, where Acaster was walking around barefoot in a pink wig.

Meanwhile, Jones and Fuller got away on a sidecar moped, which they used to get to a car dealership, narrowly escaping being caught by hunters as they were escorted out of the building in the back of a Mercedes.
