The stunningly beautiful Westcountry seaside town that has been hailed as the best place to live in the UK

A stunningly beautiful Westcountry seaside town, it has been voted the best place to live in the UK. The Devon beach resort took first place in a survey by Muddy Stilettos to find the most popular residential locations outside of London.

The website has put together its annual list of the top 250 places, with eight to 10 locations from each county, Devon Live reports. It has now been revealed that Exmouth has been crowned the national winner.

The Muddy Stilettos judges raved about the area’s golden sands, good travel links to Exeter, attractions for “outdoor aficionados” and “increasingly stylish hospitality”. And it seems that TripAdvisor reviewers agree that the location is very special.

One person wrote: “Fabulous beach, one of my favorite places. Wonderful any time of the year! Lovely restaurants to suit everyone’s pocket.”

Another said: “This seems to be the secret of the south coast, I wish I’d known about it years ago. It’s also very close to other little places like Budliegh Salterton and Sidmouth whose beaches are great. Found a couple of good family friendly restaurants and stayed at the Premier Inn, which is almost ON the beach”.

The town is also home to a popular raptor airshow and deer train at World of Country Life. One reviewer said, “Great family day out, something for everyone from kids games to feeding animals to looking at vintage cars and motorcycles. Lots of places for picnics.”
