Manchester City are in the race to sign Ecuadorian talent Kendry Paez, but face a battle with both Chelsea and Manchester United.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who says the race for Páez is already heating up.
“Chelsea want him and Chelsea are absolutely in touch to sign Kendry Paez,” Romano said. “Also Manchester United and Manchester City are exploring the terms of the agreement. We also have to include Bayer Leverkusen in the list of clubs interested in Kendry Paez. Super young talent, so it will take some time to see him perform in Europe, but all these clubs are monitoring Kendry Paez as a great talent for the present and the future,” he added.
Ecuadorian talent seems to be in demand right now.
Moises Caicedo is almost certain to leave Brighton and Hove Albion this summer having prospered since leaving Independiente del Valle.
Pervis Estupinan and Jeremy Sarmiento are also on the Brighton squad, and the Seagulls enjoy developing three Ecuadorian talents.
Throw in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie and Real Valladolid winger Gonazlo Plata and it looks like Ecuadorian talent is rising fast.
Paez could be one of the next to make a big move with City, United and Chelsea now eyeing a deal.
Who is Manchester City and Manchester United aiming for Kendry Paez?
We’re not trying to make you feel old here, but Páez was born in 2007, which means he’s only 15 years old.
Páez was not even born when Zinedine Zidane headbutted Marco Materazzi, for example.
The teenager currently plays for Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, the same club that developed Caicedo.
Páez has scored three goals in five games with the Ecuador under-17 team and surely games will come for him one day.
An attacking midfielder with outstanding ability on the ball, Páez appears to be a hugely exciting talent for the future.
United squandered the opportunity to sign Caicedo and may want to rectify their mistake by signing Páez.
However, City will offer some great competition and it looks like Chelsea are already putting the pressure on, even if they might not actually move to England until they are 18 years old.
