Former striker Louis Saha believes Napoli ace Victor Osimhen would bring a wide range of qualities to Old Trafford if Manchester United win the race for his signature.
The Reds, according to the Manchester evening news in November, they identified the Nigerian international as a player of interest for next summer. Coach Erik ten Hag wants to add to his squad before next season and a new striker is high on his wish list.
Osimhen, who has already admitted that it is his “dream” to play in the Premier League, is one of the most sought-after strikers in European football. He has scored 21 goals in 26 appearances for Napoli this season, cementing himself at the top of the Serie A goalscoring table.

However, Napoli have already warned suitors that it would take a big-money offer for them to entertain the idea of selling the 24-year-old, who joined the Italian club from Lille in 2020. However, Saha, who played for United between 2004 and 2008, he believes the striker would be an excellent addition.
Asked if Osimhen should be United’s main target this summer, Saha, speaking to Betfred, said: “I think so because when you analyze his game and witness how he plays tactically, he gives assists, pre-assists and that highlights that goals are not the only element of his game.
“He is a very intelligent lad, technically gifted and has all the attributes to be a good fit at Manchester United. He was well known for his work rate at Lille, which shows that he can fit well into the system that Erik ten Hag has put in place at the club.”
United, of course, bolstered their attacking ranks with the short-term loan of Wout Weghorst in January, taking him over from Burnley for the rest of the season. At the time, Saha described how he wished United had turned to Osimhen sooner.
Speaking in January, Saha said: “Of course I would have loved to see them sign a striker like Victor Osimhen. I think it was a missed goal two years ago when he went from Lille to Napoli.
“He should have been signed by now, but now his price is going to be even more than what Napoli paid for him.”
Meanwhile, Saha has also explained why he thinks Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane, who is also on the Reds’ radar, would offer a better guarantee of starting a run at Old Trafford.
“Harry Kane would provide a more instant guarantee and I love Marcus Thuram, but he’s not a proper striker,” Saha continued. “It would be a challenge for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, but Marcus Thuram is not a natural goalscorer.
“Osimhen can bring a lot to this United team.”
