Manchester United get boost from Kobbie Mainoo as Fulham duo apologize after FA Cup chaos

Kobbie Mainoo will be able to join Manchester United’s squad for pre-season after England’s under-19 team failed to qualify for this summer’s Euro Cup.

Mainoo had been involved with the under-19 setup during the international break, featuring in all three of their qualifiers, including all 88 minutes in a 2-0 win over Turkey on Tuesday night. The 17-year-old has been on the sidelines of first-team action at United, making his debut in the Carabao Cup win over Charlton in January.

Their involvement with England was expected to continue until the summer and the 2023 European Championships in Malta this summer, however the fact that the Young Lions failed to top their group – they finished one point behind Iceland – means they won’t be involved in all eight -Team Finals.

Fortunately for United, that means the teenager will be available for this summer’s trip to the United States for pre-season training, having missed the tournament from July 3-16.
