Morgan Sindall Construction named a member of the Greater Manchester Good Jobs Charter

Morgan Sindall Construction’s North West team is celebrating becoming one of the first three construction companies to be named members of the Greater Manchester Good Jobs Charter.

The Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme that aims to raise employment standards in Greater Manchester for all organizations of any size, sector or geography.

It recognizes organizations that are committed to the well-being of their colleagues, committing to pay a real living wage, involving staff in key decisions, and supporting fair and flexible working conditions.

The Charter defines good employment as built around seven characteristics: secure work, flexible work, salary, engagement and voice, recruitment, people management, and health and wellness.

Membership of the Charter means that Morgan Sindall has demonstrated that it is an excellent employer using its resources to support its staff and its local community, evidenced in ways that include:

  • Be a real wage employer.
  • Being one of the few construction companies to hold the Investors in People Platinum accreditation.
  • Provision of adult mental health first aid training for both employees and the supply chain through an in-house mental health first aid instructor, and the creation of a mental health first aid network .
  • A sick leave support policy, an employee assistance program and an enhanced maternity and paternity package and flexible job guidance.
  • Advice, support and webinars on topics such as sleep and menopause, as well as a commitment to being a menopause-friendly employer.
  • In the last three years, it has helped 318 unemployed people to find jobs and 101 people from disadvantaged groups to find jobs.
  • During the same period, 6,011 local people found work through Morgan Sindall and its supply chain.
