What games will Casemiro miss after the red card at Manchester United vs Southampton

Midfielder Casemiro faces a four-match ban after being sent off in the first half of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian, who joined the Reds from Real Madrid last summer, was sacked with 34 minutes remaining after a VAR check. He was initially warned by referee Anthony Taylor for a strong challenge on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.

However, VAR ordered Taylor to review the decision and approach the pitch monitor. Following the review, the experienced referee made the decision to give Casemiro his second red card in just his last three Premier League appearances.

The 31-year-old was sent off during last month’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace and was suspended as a result for back-to-back clashes with Leeds United and the 3-0 win over Leicester City. He only returned to the team in the league last weekend for the 7-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

Unless United decide to appeal the decision and are successful in their efforts, Casemiro will now serve a four-match ban in all domestic matches, starting with next Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final at home to Fulham. He will also miss Premier League matches against Newcastle United, Brentford and Everton immediately after the upcoming international break.

It means he will be available for a domestic match when United travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest on April 15.

The Brazilian, however, will be available to face Real Betis in United’s Europa League round of 16 second leg on Thursday night. Red cards obtained in national competitions do not carry over to European matches.
