Full List of School Closings as Teacher Strike Causes Chaos Arrives TODAY – Is Your Child’s School Affected?

Members of the National Education Union (NEU) in England will go on strike today and tomorrow.

The two-day strike was also planned for Wales but has since been called off after the Welsh government reviewed their wage offer.

On a big day of industrial action, the strikers include teachers, university professors, civil servants, trainee doctors, London Underground drivers and BBC journalists.

The NEU has refused to call off the mass strikes despite desperate pleas from Education Secretary Gillian Keegan.

Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said in an open letter to parents: “This industrial action will mean further disruption to children’s education and also to their lives, whether it be at work, childcare arrangements or the change of other plans”.

“I am extremely disappointed that so many young people are once again missing out on invaluable time learning with their teachers and friends, particularly after their education has been significantly disrupted during the pandemic.

“This morning I have written to the unions again to invite them to have those talks on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, all they have to do is call off the strikes which are unnecessary and do not benefit anyone.”
