Everton join Newcastle in the heated pursuit of the £53m wonderkid previously chased by Nottingham Forest

Everton are considering a summer offer for Newcastle United target Giovani, who plays as a winger for Brazilian giant Palmeiras.

The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of South America’s most exciting young talents, and Nottingham Forest saw him denied a loan in January.

Sean Dyche’s side certainly need some attacking spark at the moment, so Giovani could be an excellent addition for the Toffees.

Everton are currently in the middle of another relegation battle after winning just six of their 28 league games so far, the worst result in their entire history at this point in the season.

Lack of goals has also been the key problem for Dyche’s side, who have scored the fewest goals of any Premier League this season.

They lost one of their most creative forces in January when sold Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for £40msomeone they couldn’t replace.

Indeed, Everton did not make a single signing in the winter window, despite Dyche being promised a new center forward by the club’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

Everton ready to fight Newcastle for Giovani

However, Everton are reportedly looking to bolster their squad this summer and have made Palmeiras winger Giovani one of their main targets, according to ESPN Brazil.

The youngster has played 30 times for the Brazilian team this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in total.

A versatile and confident player, Giovani has the ability to play as a winger on either flank or center forward on occasion, so he could provide cover in several key areas for Dyche.

Giovani could also prove to be an excellent long-term investment for the Toffees, with the South American media raving about his sky-high potential.

The attacker is also a former teammate of Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo, who made the leap to the Premier League this season after signing for Nottingham Forest.

according to ESPN According to the report, Giovani is believed to have a release clause of €60m (£53m) in his current contract, which will run until 2026.

However, the Brazilian club would reportedly be willing to sell for less, with a fee of roughly £13m believed to be enough to secure his services.

But, as mentioned, Everton will have to compete with high-flying Newcastle for Giovani this summer, who are probably a much more attractive side than the Merseysiders at the moment.

With that in mind, any potential deal with the Toffees would depend in the first place on whether or not they avoid the Championship drop and whether they can come up with a better offer than the Magpies, if they actually go for Giovani this summer.
