Ismaila Sarr, linked to Nottingham Forest, will leave Watford

Nottingham Forest-linked striker Ismaila Sarr will leave Watford in the summer, even if they are promoted back to the Premier League. According to The Athletic, the player will be sold at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Sarr will have just one year remaining on his current contract at the end of the season. As a result, Watford will take advantage of the 25-year-old who stayed at the club despite relegation last season.

The winger signed for the Hornets in 2019 from Rennes. The Hertfordshire-based team battled competition from a host of clubs to sign him and he has grown as a player.

In 123 appearances for Watford, he has scored 33 goals and recorded 23 assists. During the current campaign, Sarr has been in fine form, scoring nine goals and assisting five.

Forest linked up with Sarr during the summer transfer window. They wanted to sign him at the same time they managed to sign Emmanuel Dennis, but Watford just wanted to cash in on one of their star men.

Now, Sarr is ready to go. The player El Hadji Diouf called ‘world-class’ is likely to go to the Premier League, with Forest and Aston Villa trying to sign him last summer.

This could be great news for the Reds, especially if they stay in the Premier League. Sarr is a proven top-tier player and it’s no surprise to see him leave the Hornets in the summer.

Other clubs are likely to be interested. Liverpool and Manchester United have been interested in the past and it will be interesting to see what level of club he has vying for his signature.

Forest needs to stay in the division first and foremost. If they can do that, signing a player like Sarr could be ideal as they aim to ensure they are not in a relegation battle next season.
