Knifeman proudly shouted his own name during an armed robbery

A goofy criminal yelled his own name during an armed street robbery, making life easier for the investigating officers. Kyle Wood, 34, who also has a distinctive teardrop tattoo on his cheek, had carried out two separate street robberies on young men who, moments before, had gotten off a bus and were both walking to their respective homes in Long Eatons, Derbyshire.

Armed with a knife, he demanded their belongings, leaving one of them in fear for his life, reports DerbyshireLive. Then, when a bystander screamed and tried to intervene during the second crime, the defendant proudly told the man, “Don’t get involved, you know who I am? I’m Kyle Wood, keep the f*** out.”

Wood told Derby Crown Court: “I don’t care, I’m a big bad wolf.” He then refused to stay in a prison bond to find out his fate. During the sentencing hearing, Wood said “get me out of here” before banging on the door to be let out of the video link room at HMP Nottingham. The court was told that Wood has been known to self-medicate with crack.

Jailing the heavily convicted drug addict for three years and eight months, recorder Graham Huston said: “These two victims were robust young men, but they got off the bus and were accosted by you holding a razor and for a moment one of They feared for their own lives.”

Sarah Allen, a prosecutor, said both robberies took place shortly after midnight on August 30 last year. She said the first victim had just gotten off a Nottingham bus and was walking home when the defendant approached her on Derby Road.

The prosecutor said: “The victim heard a commotion and thought someone was begging and didn’t realize it, but Mr Wood approached him, raised a knife and demanded that he hand over what was on him. He gave him his mobile phone, got home and I called the police.”
