Max Lowe, protagonist of Sheffield United after his loan to Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest decided not to sign Max Lowe in the summer and he is now top of the Championship lists in one aspect. The Sheffield United player has earned a breather at Bramall Lane after being loaned out by Slavisa Jokanovic in August 2021.

Lowe became an integral part of the Forest team last season; although he suffered two rather nasty injuries during his time at the club. Now, Who Scored shows him at the top of the charts when it comes to making the most tackles per game.

The 25-year-old has started to shine under Paul Heckingbottom this season. The Blades are well on their way to a return to the Premier League and the left-back has made 20 appearances for South Yorkshire-based rivals Forest.

Lowe signed for United on loan when the club were bottom of the Championship. He was on the bench for Chris Hughton’s last away game against Derby, but then joined the team when Steve Cooper was given the job.

The man who came through the academy at Pride Park made 23 appearances for Forest last season. His last outing was as a substitute during the play-off final against Huddersfield at Wembley.

In fairness to Forest, they had bigger fish to fry in the Premier League. Lowe strained his groin twice last season and there was clearly some doubt about that when deciding whether or not to sign him.

However, the defender has started in recent months. He is now a regular on Heckingbottom’s team and Who Scored claims that he is averaging 3.2 tackles per game, more than any other player in the division.

Lowe always gave his all during his time at Forest. His injury problems prevented him from gaining consistency and pace, but he proved to be a very successful loan signing.

Forest will hope Lowe does not swap places with Forest in the Premier League. The Blades seem destined to rise, but right now, the Reds’ situation could be better.

Lowe is one of the best left backs in the division right now. When it comes to tackles per game, no one is doing better than the man who spent last season on loan at Forest.
