Reds legend hails ‘masterstroke’

Former Nottingham Forest manager and player Stuart Pearce has backed Steve Cooper to guide the Reds to Premier League safety this season.

Forest are playing Premier League football for the first time in over two decades this season after Steve Cooper masterminded a renaissance that saw them rise from the bottom of the Championship to a triumphant return to the top flight of English football via the playoffs.

But the Reds have a battle on their hands if they want to avoid going down again. Forest are currently 16th in the Premier League and just two points behind the bottom three.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Julen Lopetegui will welcome some players ahead of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest this weekend.

The Reds will return to action after a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United, before the international break. Steve Cooper’s side are winless in their last six league games, with his last victory dating back to early February against Leeds United.

Wolves are in a similar position, having won just one of their previous five matches. An interesting affair awaits between the teams with only one point separating them in the table, in what is turning out to be an extremely close relegation battle.

Important Transfer Update

Nottingham Forest loanee goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been linked with a summer transfer as two unnamed clubs have reportedly made contact with parent club Manchester United.

The 25-year-old impressed for the Reds during their return to the Premier League but has not played since picking up an injury against Leicester in January. Forest responded to Henderson’s injury by signing former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas on loan until the end of the season.

But with Forest’s senior status for next season in jeopardy, it seems unlikely the Red Devils keeper will remain at the City Ground beyond the summer.
