Rangers go after Nottingham Forest borrower Jonathan Panzo

Rangers are chasing Nottingham Forest centre-back Jonathan Panzo as he impresses while on loan at Coventry City, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via its website on Wednesday evening (March 22) that the Gers are “closely watching the Panzo situation” with Ross Wilson’s scouts “in force” to help defensive recruiting in the summer. .

Michael Beale is understood to have previously worked with the 22-year-old Panzo in Chelsea’s youth system, but it is unclear if Forest will be willing to sell the England under-21 international at the end of the season or seek another loan deal.

Panzo joined Nottingham Forest in January 2022 after a spell with Dijon in Ligue 1, but played just once for Steve Cooper before being loaned out to Coventry for the duration of this season.

Years and years of failed recruiting have brought us to a point where Celtic are again heading towards a domestic treble.

It’s not Beale’s fault and although he has limited experience managing a transfer window, the former Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa manager could use his links to those Premier League clubs to acquire some good signings.

QPR will also have some good players for Beale to look at and it’s also worth noting that the London-born manager has ties to Sao Paulo in Brazil.

It will be great to see the Gers explore the Brazilian market, mainly because getting work permits for young players from South America is just as easy as it is for players from Europe.

But also because if you look at Celtic, they have opened up the Asian and Australian market through Ange Postecoglou and it has paid dividends.

Beale should use his links south of the border, as well as Brazil, to build a good enough Rangers team to regain control in Scotland.
