Report: Chelsea now want to sign Nottingham Forest borrower Dean Henderson

Chelsea now want to sign Nottingham Forest loan star Dean Henderson during the summer transfer window. The Reds will try to make their loan deal permanent if they stick; while Tottenham are also considering a move for the player

According to Football Insider, the Blues are now firmly in the mix to try and get it. He currently has Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, but is keen to try and improve his goalkeeping options.

Henderson signed with the Reds over the summer when Steve Cooper reshuffled his team. Forest had to think fast, with Brice Samba expressing his desire to return to France and subsequently sign for Lens.

The talented goalkeeper has a cap named after him for the England national team and is a brilliant stopper. Henderson has made 20 appearances for the Reds, keeping six clean sheets for the club and saving penalties from Declan Rice and Harry Kane.

Disaster struck Henderson during a match against Leicester on January 14. He tore his thigh muscle on a routine goal kick and hasn’t played for the Reds since, with Keylor Navas as a substitute.

However, it seems that Forest still thinks a lot about Henderson. Now, they are planning to make a permanent effort to sign him, as long as they retain their status as a Premier League club.

The goalkeeper would be an incredible signing from Bosque’s perspective. When he was at Sheffield United, Sander Berge called him ‘crazy’ for his heroics at Bramall Lane.

The United goalkeeper was openly critical of how the Red Devils treated him last season. It was a frustrating campaign for the player who was ostensibly promised soccer, but played second fiddle throughout the season.

Henderson has had fun at Forest. He will not enjoy the club’s current form while he is injured and will be determined to get fit before the end of the season.

The man with an England cap to his name has really taken a life at Forest, but that might not be enough.

Chelsea is a club that will probably compete in Europe next season. Along with Tottenham, they will pose a significant threat to Forest and their chances of landing Henderson.
