The ‘quiet’ Nottinghamshire village off the A52

Being located in picturesque and tidy parklands, having good transport links and living close to the A52 are all things residents love about living in Toton. A ‘quiet’ town where not much happens, Toton has a population of approximately 7,298.

The village, where Wollaton-born actress Vicky McClure now lives, has 4 schools and 3 churches. The town also has its own cricket and football teams.

People who live in the village have talked about what it is like to live there. Hannah Houghton, 39, who is self-employed, said: “It’s quiet here, there isn’t much, but what we have is enough.

“When I first moved here I was very happy to be on the A52 and the public transport isn’t bad either.” Hannah continued: “For a treat my family and I love going to The Manor (pub on Nottingham Road) and the Attenborough Nature Reserve is also nearby which is great for walking.”

Retired teacher Sue Thomas, 58, who has lived in Toton for most of her life, said: “I’ve never had a problem in Toton, not with parking, not with rubbish or anything like that. It’s lovely here.

“I have a grandson who wants to join the army when he grows up and he reminds me every time we go through the Military Preparation College. I like to take my dogs to Manor Farm Recreation Park with my husband, we have taken many walks there.”
