Sheffield drug dealers caught by police after one put cocaine inside their pants

Police have caught two men running a sophisticated drug operation in the Abbeydale Road area of ​​Sheffield after one of them was seen putting cocaine down his trousers.

Mohammed Kashef, 20, of Abbeydale Road, and Mustafa Ali, 23, of Crookesmoor Road, were jailed for six years together on Friday (March 31). The couple appeared in court on Class A drug offenses after officers uncovered a substantial operation and seized drugs, cash and weapons.

The court heard that Kashef and Ali operated a lucrative Class A drug line in the Abbeydale Road area using a lonely phone number in late 2021 and early 2022. Following extensive investigations and in response to a series of incidents of violent crime in London Road and Abbeydale Road area At that time, officers launched a dedicated operation to tackle drug supply and organized crime in the area.

In December 2021, officers were conducting routine patrols in a marked police vehicle on Abbeydale Road, when they saw a man who, seeing police, placed an object in the front of his trousers and began to walk briskly.

The man, later identified as Kashef, was searched by officers and found with more than four grams of crack, with a street value of around £500, as well as almost £1,000 in cash and a disposable phone, linked to a known drug line in the area. Kashef was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, was interviewed and later released on bail.

Seven months later, in July 2022, plainclothes officers were again patrolling the area when they saw Kashef, this time with Ali, in a vehicle on Abbeydale Road. The officers stopped the car and, searching Kashef, found more than £650 in cash on his person.

Ali was also searched and officers found nearly seven grams of cocaine and four grams of heroin concealed in his underwear, along with a burner phone. Both men were arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and their properties were searched.

Inside Ali’s home address, another 30 grams of crack was found, as well as almost 13 grams of heroin, along with drug supply equipment, a hunting knife and over £800 in cash. The drugs seized that day had a street value of over £5,000.

The next day, Kashef and Ali were charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and possession of criminal property. PC Nic Wood of Operation Fortify, the force’s dedicated team fighting organized crime, said: “Kashef and Ali ran one of the largest drug supply lines in the area.

“Drugs can not only ruin communities, they can have devastating consequences, and those involved in large-scale drug deals are our number one target. Behind every drug deal is someone vulnerable, whether it’s the person doing it , stores it, sells it”. or involved in violence as a result.

Both Kashef and Ali initially pleaded not guilty to all three crimes, but later changed their pleas to guilty. Kashef was sentenced to three years for possession with intent to supply and possession of criminal property following the December 2021 incident and four years for conspiracy to supply Class A following the July 2022 incident, with the sentences running concurrently. Ali was sentenced to two and a half years.
