The potentially massive clash between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United will be reshuffled

The upcoming Championship fixture between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United could be pivotal for both sides, but a new date will need to be found due to the Blades’ FA Cup commitments.

A late comeback win over Blackburn Rovers earned Sheffield United a trip to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, to be played on the weekend of Saturday 22 April, thus coinciding with their planned trip to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Former Blades boss Neil Warnock is currently trying to rescue Huddersfield Town from dire straits after coming out of retirement to help them in their battle against relegation.

His side’s shock one-goal win over Millwall on Saturday afternoon has cut the gap to safety to three points, although 21st-ranked Cardiff City now have one game to play after their trip to the Rotherham United were canceled due to inclement weather.

Meanwhile, United are fighting for promotion to the Premier League, trailing just three points behind another of Warnock’s former clubs, Middlesbrough, whom Paul Heckingbottom’s side have a game to play.

A rearranged date for the game has yet to be announced, but it seems likely that it will need to be scheduled in early May, in the midst of what was scheduled to be the final two games of the season for both teams with no other midweek slots available. . .

It is therefore best for both parties to hope that United have already secured their return to the top flight before then and visit West Yorkshire with nothing to play for, assuming Town’s fate has not been confirmed for the worse.
